New poem: “In Between” by Maggie McGinity

Another Twinning post, because Twinning posts beget Twinning posts, apparently.

I had a plan for today, I was going to Pick a specific song and make a passive-aggressive comment about something I don’t actually care about anymore (a bit, but just because people can’t lay claim to songs as being the only person to ever relate to that song). But then I wrote a poem very late last night/early this morning, and I thought of a different song that would be much better for the Picking.

However, we’re doing the poem first, to increase mystery and suspense and make you all wonder what the song will be, although it’ll seem fairly obvious once I get around to Picking it later today. Anyways, poem. Enjoy!

In Between
By Maggie McGinity

See this girl, she loves her extremes
She’s reading about the life she dreams
But this girl lives in between

See this girl, she’s longing to know
Where her feet and her fuel saves will go
But she hasn’t heard what she never wrote
She lives a life on hold

See this girl with a dangerous past
And a future flying fast
She knows she could put someone into a cast
But even breaks in bones weren’t built to last
She lives with plans half-hatched

See this girl with her built-in shells
She walks them wherever she dwells
Deep down in the depths of wishing wells
High up in the opposite of Hell
She sings and laughs, her voice chimes in like bells,
But in between what, she will never tell.”

“You can’t do anything for a person who is stuck between being happy and being miserable. All you can do is get trapped in the middle, and anyone in the middle just gets squished.”
-“What Would Joey Do?” by Jack Gantos

“The body grows slowly and steadily but the soul grows by leaps and bounds. It may come to its full stature in an hour.”
-“Rilla of Ingleside” by L.M. Montgomery

“I believe that everyone else my age is an adult whereas I am merely in disguise.”
– Margaret Atwood
