NaPoWriMo #15: “Write a Poem” by Maggie McGinity

Write a Poem
By Maggie McGinity

Write a poem
Before you get home
In the quiet containment of this car
Music on the radio
No one here to stay it though
Who you aren’t and who you are

Raised-voice conversations
Triplets and vacations
Countdowns that don’t conclude with red lights
Same old song, third time today
But so wrong to send away
Alone await the bed sights”

“Take you away from that empty apartment
You stay and forget where the heart is
Someday if ever you love me you’d say it’s okay”
-“Empty Apartment” by Yellowcard
