Hello! This blog is a means for me, Maggie McGinity, to express myself and share my creative works. It is also a means for me to share my opinion about a number of things, mostly recorded music. Here is guide to the pages and other aspects of this blog:
I am a 24-year-old living in Madison, WI. I used to live in Iowa. I have a flute performance degree and a journalism/communications degree. I play flute primarily, but I also sing and play piano. I write poems and songs about the things that happen in my life.
Here is a brief description of me:
“Maggie is a very creative and elegant person who finds the right words in a very beautiful way. She can see the world through music and words, but often doesn’t see the world that’s right in front of her.”
I write a lot of different kinds of poems. Very few of them follow a literary form. I think they’re very straightforward with subject matter, but they may be obscure.
I’ve been writing songs for about 10 years now, and longer still if you count what I wrote during middle school(I don’t). I have a collection that numbers between 20-40 songs. Very few of them are recorded or even notated, but I have plans to record, edit, and condense them into approximately 3 albums later this year. Stay tuned!
This is where anything musical I do that is not a song I’ve written will show up. I’m periodically in concerts and shows, so info and media from those can be found here.
I used to review music for the Iowa State Daily, but now I select and share songs that I find entertaining/interesting/etc, often with information about how the song came to be and what impact it’s had on my life.
I know a lot of people who, instead of directly saying how they’re feeling or what they’re struggling with, will post song lyrics on the Internet somewhere, in a blog, on Twitter or Facebook. I find this extremely annoying. But I used to do this same thing on this blog.
This section contains the archive of my quotes post.
This is where anything that doesn’t fit on the other pages goes, if I deem it important enough to be categorized. It’s likely to be filled with doodles and amateur photography.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I really appreciate you taking time (however little) out of your busy life to learn about mine. Please feel free to comment if you have a comment. Thank you again!
